About
the Authors:
Marjorie DeAngelis began teaching first graders at Gordon School in
Rhode Island. She became very interested in the field of reading and
received her Master's Degree in Reading. Marjorie became a
reading consultant and worked for elementary teachers and
students. She studied reading, under Sandra Iverson from New Zealand
and always worked directly with young readers. Marjorie became a Director
of Curriculum worked with National Standards to develop reading and
writing curriculum, as well as Social Studies and Science.
Karen
Olivera began teaching first grade in a small Catholic school
and then moved to a large public school system in Rhode Island.
Karen organized a wonderful classroom . Karen is active in curriculum
development in reading, writing and content areas.
Marjorie and Karen worked together in the classroom,
teaching young children how to read. They have brought their knowledge
of reading and curriculum to share with parents in the program We-read2.
